Daniela Rossell

In her "Ricas y Famosas" series, Mexican photographer Daniella Rossell captures the totally decadent wealth of the Mexican aristocracy. These photos depict a minority of ultra-rich women in their domestic spaces - some would say their "golden cages." Rossell's participants initially agreed to be photographed, but after the photos garnered critical press many participants requested to pull out of the project. This series challenges commonly-held perceptions of the society and culture in Mexico, as most documentary photography considering Mexican social systems concentrates on the largest and poorest segment of the population.
